Merchant of Tennis caught up with Liam Draxl to discuss how he is enjoying playing junior tournaments!

Here is what he had to say.

Q: When did you start playing tennis?

I started to play tennis at the age of four at the Newmarket Tennis Club.

Q: This year you won the U14 Provincial singles and doubles title, can you talk about how it felt to win?

It felt good to win both and it gave a lot of confidence.

Q: You have had the chance to represent Canada at a young age, how does it feel and what do you enjoy the most?

I am proud to be a Canadian and I enjoy competing at international tournaments and meeting people from all over  the world.

Q: Your dad is a tennis pro, have you been able to beat him yet?

We haven’t played a full match yet, but I have taken a set off him.

Q: You've had many wins in such a young career - do any of them stick out to you? Is there one you are particularly proud of ?

I won U12 Indoor Nationals which was a very big win for me at the time.  I also made it to the semi-finals of a tournament in Austria playing in the U14 which I was proud of because it was on red clay and I don’t normally play on clay at all.

Q: What do you hope to achieve this upcoming season?

I just want to keep improving, getting better and become a better tennis player.
