Description

The 9th Gen Pure Aero 98 from Babolat features a refined aerodynamic update for faster racquet head speed, improved feel through integrated flax fibres, and a tuned 16×20 string pattern—making it the most control-oriented model in the series for high-performance competitors who want to swing hard and fast with heavy spin and precision.

The 98 square inch head size delivers a tighter, more precise sweet spot for greater control, while the denser string pattern enhances ball contact so you can swing bigger with confidence. At a slightly heavier 10.8 oz (unstrung), the racquet gains added stability and plough-through for stronger returns, heavier shots, and increased spin potential for players who can accelerate it. A head-light balance keeps the frame quick and manoeuvrable, supporting fast racquet speed, explosive spin, and sharp reactions at net, while the refined beam design reinforces stability and energy transfer for consistent power across the string bed.

Built for modern all-court performance, the 9th Gen Pure Aero from Babolat delivers speed, spin, and controlled power through refined frame technologies. The updated AEROMODULAR4 design reduces air drag by approximately 6%, boosting racquet head speed for faster acceleration, heavier spin, and more penetrating shots. FSI SPIN combines a slightly denser 16×20 string pattern with Spin Grommets at 6 and 12 o’clock to enhance string movement for dynamic, controlled spin. Completing the package, NF²-TECH 2.0 integrates unidirectional flax fibres to improve structural strength while filtering vibrations, resulting in a cleaner, more responsive feel at impact.

Whether you’re new to the Pure Aero 98 or coming from a previous generation, the Gen9 delivers a sharper, faster, and more confident hitting experience. Built on over 20 years of spin innovation from Babolat and inspired by the aggressive baseline play of Carlos Alcaraz, it preserves the trusted Pure Aero 98 feel while adding extra speed and precision. Returning players will notice the familiar control with a more explosive response, while new players gain a confidence-inspiring frame that rewards full swings with heavy spin and accurate targeting, making it a natural choice for competitive players who want to dictate play.

Photos used contain images of strings for illustration purposes. Adult tennis racquets are unstrung unless otherwise noted or stringing services have been selected above. Brand logo stencils are not applied by default with stringing services. If you request brand logo stencils, please note that a stencil is painted onto the strings within a brand's stencil and may wear off over time - this is how stencils are applied on tour. Depending on the string you select, the stencil paint application fullness, colour and visibility may vary.
Adult racquets generally do not come with covers. To protect your racquet, we recommend getting a racquet bag.

Grip size palm measurements for tennis racquets

If you fall somewhere between the measurements, it is recommended to choose the smaller grip size as you can always build the grip size up using an overgrip (for a slight increase) or a grip build-up sleeve (for a half or full size increase). The grip measurements above factor in the pre-installed factory grip.
