Understanding tennis strings
Description

Yonex updates the popular VCORE SV 98 with winning results. The new VCORE 98 G 305g offers more spin potential, a plusher feel and a great balance of power and control.

With this update Yonex has added a few new technologies to enhance spin potential as well as improve the racquet's feel. They have also removed a cross string to change the pattern from a 16x20 to 16x19 resulting in more ball grip at impact and in turn, more spin, as well as boosting the power level a touch. The addition of more Aero Fins, now at the lower portion of the head as well as the upper portion, means less resistance as the racquet passes through the air which helps generate more racquet head speed. Aero Trench technology further increases the racquets aerodynamic properties by recessing the grommets along the top of the racquet's head. These new technologies mean the VCORE 98 is super fast through the air and easily accelerates through the hitting zone producing plenty of pop and lots of spin potential. Yonex claims this latest VCORE series of racquets to be the highest spin producing racquets in the company's history.

Also new to this racquet is Yonex's Namd technology. Integrating the extremely flexible Namd material into strategic areas of the racquet's layup allows the graphite carbon to create more snapback; producing more powerful shots, better feel as well as more spin potential. Though this racquet has a similar flex rating (67 RA) to it's predecessor the VCORE SV 98 it does feel noticeably softer and more forgiving thanks to the Namd technology. Another new technology that enhances this racquets feel is Liner Tech. By dramatically reducing the angle at which the string enters the grommets on select main strings acts to extend these strings and produces a larger more forgiving sweetspot as well as more ball pocketing at impact.

The 10.8 ounce unstrung weight keeps things maneuverable as well stable. Yonex's patented Isometric head shape increases the sweet spot on the 98 square inch head by 7% for greater control without sacrificing power.

A great update to an already great racquet means that the VCORE 98 G 305g is a must demo for anyone looking for a modern players racquet that seems to tick all of the right boxes.

  • Head Size: 98 sq. inches / 630 sq. cm
  • Length: 27 inches / 68.58 cm
  • Weight: 10.8 oz / 305 g unstrung
  • Balance: 8 pts head light / 315 mm unstrung
  • Swing Weight: 320 strung
  • Beam width: 22mm / 22mm / 21mm
  • Flex: 67 RA
  • Tension Range: 45-60 lbs / 20-27kg
  • String Pattern: 16/19
  • Year Introduced: 2018
  • Isometric:
Created by YONEX in 1980, the ISOMETRIC head shape is a unique and evolutionary breakthrough technology in racquet design. In conventional racquets, the sweet spot is located where main strings and cross strings meet. The YONEX ISOMETRIC head shape allows us to increase the number of main and cross strings that meet in the centre of the racquet to produce a sweet spot which gives a 7% more effective hitting area for you to make match winning shots.
  • 3D Vector Shaft:
The throat grooves of the 3D Vector Shaft improve racquet stiffness, generating supreme face stability and giving players more efficient power.
  • New Aero Fin:
The VCORE SV boasts a 16% decrease in air resistance and a 2.9% increase in swing speed thanks to its New Aero Fin Technology. The new technology features fins along the inner-area of the frame top and on the outer area of the frame at the 2 and 10 O’clock positions. This makes the VCORE SV exceptionally aerodynamic, especially on areas of the racquet which typically have the most air resistance. The end result is improved spin, higher trajectory and faster ball speed. 2018 VCORE racquets also have Aero Fin at the lower portion of the head.
  • Namd:
A flexible carbon material that works in a graphite matrix to produce optimal frame snapback at impact. Producing better feel, more power and greater spin potential.
  • Aero Trench:
Recessed grommets to reduce wind drag and create greater racquet head speed.
  • Liner Tech:
By dramatically reducing the string entry angles in select grommets, the outer main strings are elongated to produce a wider sweet spot, providing greater snapback. With added string movement, players can grab the ball to apply extra spin.
