Understanding tennis strings
Description

The EZONE 98L from Yonex is engineered for intermediate to advanced players looking to dominate with controllable power and comfort.

Now the 6th generation of the EZONE series, this edition again improves on its predecessors. Yonex is always innovating and tweaking designs to bring the best quality racquets to the market.

This update incorporates the vibration dampening mesh we saw in the Vcore Pro update, reducing vibration through the handle of the racquet and generating a smoother feel during ball impact. A small change to the grommet system called Liner Tech has adjusted the sweetspot for a denser string configuration increasing touch and control while widening the outer grommets for reduced vibration. The last new technology is M40X, an elasticated graphite built into the throat for better frame stability while maintaining the low flex of the racquet that contributes to its growing popularity.

You don’t usually get a precision racquet at 285 grams but that’s what niche the 98L fills. Players looking for great control in a lighter package should match up nicely with this frame as it swings evenly and effortlessly while providing great touch and feel. We have found this to be a great fit for competitive juniors looking to get comfortable with smaller sweetspots without increasing the weight too much as well as hard hitting players that just prefer an even balanced, mid-weight racquet.

ISOMETRIC technology delivers greater control without sacrificing power.
  • Vibration Dampening Mesh (VDM):
A stretchy mesh material is wrapped around the graphite within the grip to filter unwanted vibrations for added touch and precision.
  • New Aero-Shaped Frame:
By varying the outer angle of the aero-shaped frame, the middle and upper hoop are plush, while the lower hoop is stable for a plush, comfortable feel.
  • Shockless Grommet:
Shockless Grommets are integrated at the side and bottom of the frame to minimize muscle fatigue and provide a soft feel at impact to protect the wrist, forearm, and elbow by absorbing shock.
  • Oval Pressed Shaft (OPS):
Shaft corners are rounded for an ideal flex at impact to increase dwell time for optimal spin and directional control for increased spin and control.
  • M40X:
A strong, elastic graphite is added in the throat to improve frame stability and flex for power in a more flexible frame. TORAYCA is a next generation carbon fiber developed by Toray Industries, Inc.
  • Liner Tech:
Straight hole grommets elongate the strings to optimize power and comfort on off-center shots for improved power and comfort.
  • Super Cushion Grip:
The cushioning performance of the grip helps minimize vibrations to protect the wrist, forearm, and elbow against shock-induced injuries.
