The update to the wildly popular EZONE DR 98 the EZONE 98 keeps a lot of the same specifications of its predecessor and adds some technological tweaks that should add to the legacy of this best-selling racquet.
Smartly Yonex did not mess with the specifications too much on this update. The head size remains 98 square inches which offers a great blend of a power and precision. According to Yonex, they have updated their Isometric head shape on this frame to give it an even larger sweetspot. With this version Yonex has decreased the static weight from 10.9 ounces (310g) to 10.8 ounces (305g). Meaning this new version of the EZONE 98 G should be even more maneuverable than its predecessor without sacrificing much in the way of stability.
Yonex has also updated the grommet system introducing a new technology called Micro Offset Layout, which is designed to allow the grommets to absorb more shock and vibration at impact. This results in a slightly more comfortable and plush feel.
Another new addition to this update is the inclusion of Hyper Modulus Graphite (Hyper-MG) in the racquets upper hoop. According to Yonex, Hyper-MG helps to limit frame bending at impact and results in more energy transfer into the ball. It also results in a slightly firmer feel than its predecessor which translates into a touch more pop.
This new version of the EZONE 98 G should appeal to fans for the previous version as well as to those looking for a lighter weight players racquet with great feel and plenty of access to power.
ISO (Isometric Square Head Shape): This exclusive Yonex innovation results in a sweet spot up to 48% larger than a traditional oval head shape. According to Yonex, it ensures more power and control with fewer off-center shots.
Quake Shut Gel Air: With this technology Yonex adds 3 layers to its Quake Shut Gel handle technology. The result, according to Yonex, is an increase in vibration dampening by 16%.
Micro Offset Layout: Yonex reshapes the grommet holes and redesigns the grommet structure to reduce string on racquet friction. This enables the strings to move more at impact, which enables them to soak up greater impact vibrations (think comfort)
Hyper MG: Yonex uses an ultra firm hyper modulus graphite to reinforce the upper hoop. The result is less frame bending at impacet, which puts more of the stroke's power into the outgoing shot rather than having it be absorbed by the racquet's deformation.

To determine your grip size without using a racquet, measure from the tip of your ring finger to the major fold crease in your palm. Write down the distance to the nearest 8th of an inch. This is your standard grip size.
If you fall somewhere between the measurements, it is recommended to choose the smaller grip size as you can always build the grip size up using an overgrip or a grip build-up sleeve.
