Wilson has updated the Ultra 97 and given it a sleek new paint job as well some new technologies. The result is a modern players’ racquet that is sure to appeal to high intermediate and advanced players that are looking for a comfortable racquet with a nice blend of power and control.
Coming in at 10.8 ounces (306 grams) unstrung the Ultra Tour packs enough weight to provide plenty of stability and a good amount of plough through, but with a 9 points head light balance, this racquet swings fast. The relatively compact 97 square inch head brings plenty of control to the table, however the raquet does not feel unforgiving. The tight 18x20 string pattern also adds to the high level of control and will appeal to players that hit a flatter ball. A thin beam (20 mm) means this racquet has a fairly low flex rating of 63 RA resulting in a comfortable, arm friendly experience without sacrificing too much of that crisp feel preferred by most modern advanced players.
Wilson has introduced 2 new technologies in the Ultra Tour. Power Rib technology adds ribs to the inside of the throat of the racquet. The result is more torsional stability and directional control as well as a slight increase in stiffness in the throat which helps to boast power. Crush Zone technology is a new grommet system that compresses at impact providing more dwell time, increased feel and a more explosive string bed.
A great update from Wilson and another great addition to Wilson’s line up of players’ racquets.

To determine your grip size without using a racquet, measure from the tip of your ring finger to the major fold crease in your palm. Write down the distance to the nearest 8th of an inch. This is your standard grip size.
If you fall somewhere between the measurements, it is recommended to choose the smaller grip size as you can always build the grip size up using an overgrip or a grip build-up sleeve.
