Description

Wilson has given the Pro Staff 97 CV an updated design to match the new design of Roger's Pro Staff RF97 Autograph. The outcome is just as elegant as the man himself! This updated version has all of the same specifications and technologies as his previous all-black stick, but now has some white accents to compliment the black tuxedo look of the previous version.

As always Wilson consulted with Roger on the racquet's design and this is what the maestro had to say about the updated cosmetic, “I think this new racket looks very iconic, and classic, yet seems to jump off the court in a very recognizable way,” said Roger Federer. “My last racket featured a tuxedo-style look, so now, with the addition of white, I can finally say that my ‘tuxedo,’ has its shirt. I love the way it looks and feels.”

Everyone loves the sleek, black tuxedo influenced design of Roger Federer's Pro Staff RF97, so smartly Wilson has capitalized on this winning design and used the same paint finish for their update to the Pro Staff 97. Along with the cosmetic update, Wilson has also integrated Countervail technology into the racquet's layup of Braided Graphite. According to Wilson, Countervail is a material technology that maximizes a player’s energy, reduces muscle fatigue and shortens recovery time. The addition of Countervail definitely gives this updated version of the Pro Staff 97 a slightly more muted feel than it's predecessor. However, this frame still posses plenty of great feedback and feel thanks to the Braided Graphite technology.

Wilson has kept most of the key specifications the same with this update. The 11.1 ounce (315 gram) unstrung weight, provides plenty of weight of shot and the 10 point headlight balance (310 millimetres) keeps things nice and maneuverable. The 97 square inch head provides the racquet with an ample sweetspot and the 16x19 string pattern provides good spin potential. A 21.5 millimetre straight beam width contributes to the racquet's comfortable feel and relatively low flex rating of 65 RA.

The Pro Staff 97 CV is a great update and should appeal to fans of the previous generations of the racquet as well as those looking for a racquet that looks as great as it plays.
