The update to the GrapheneXT Instinct S, the Graphene Touch Instinct S is still targeted towards beginner or intermediate players that are looking for a user friendly racquet that they can grow with. However, in this update, Head has changed some of the key specifications of the racquet (weight, balance and beam width) to increase power and maneuverability. Along with these changes, Head has also made the racquet more comfortable by adding their new Graphene Touch technology. Graphene Touch incorporates Kraibon into the layers of Graphene. Kraibon is a rubber compound that seamlessly bonds to the Graphene fibers to improve shock absorption and delivers "unparalleled touch" without sacrificing power.
By increasing the beam width slightly, this version of the of the Instinct S should have a little more pop as well as be more stable on off center hits. Head has also beefed up the weight significantly (from 270g to 285g) which will also translate into an increase in power and stability. To keep this racquet maneuverable, the racquet has been given a more head light balance (from even balance or 340mm to 8 points head light or 320mm).
The Graphene Touch Instinct S is definitely worth a demo for athletic beginners or intermediate players looking for a solid racquet that has a good blend of power, control and feel.
