Description

Babolat updates the heavier version of the Pure Drive and the results are a racquet that will appeal to players that are looking for the power and spin that has made Pure Drive one of the best-selling racquets of all time, but with a little more weight and stability.

The Pure Drive Tour took over from the Pure Drive Roddick a few generations ago and like the Pure Drive Roddick the Pure Drive Tour is designed to be a slightly weightier version of their best-selling Pure Drive racquet. Weighing in at 11.1 ounces (315 grams), a half ounce heavier than the standard Pure Drive, the Pure Drive Tour offers a bit more stability and plough through than the Pure Drive. To counter balance some of the increased weight, The Pure Drive Tour has a more head light balance (9 points head light) than the Pure Drive and this version of the Pure Drive Tour has a slightly lower swingweight (324 strung) than the previous version. The result is a racquet that swings relatively fast and offers good manoeuvrability on all types of shots and from all areas of the court.

For this latest version of the Pure Drive Tour, Babolat has updated a couple of the their technologies. FSI Power technology still offers slightly wider spacing between the cross strings, but now also features diamond shaped grommets that result in more power and increased comfort. Babolat's shock dampening technology Cortex has also been updated. Now dubbed Cortex Pure Feel and equipped with thin viscoelastic fibres supplied by French company SMAC that are uniquely designed to dampen impact vibration. According to Babolat this version not only dampens more shock and vibration, but also produces a better sound and enhanced feel.

Like the Pure Drive, the Pure Drive Tour offers plenty of access to spin. The FSI Power technology combined with and open 16x19 string pattern enhances topspin and produces a nice high launch angle that will help in getting balls deep into the court. The open string pattern also results in a lively string bed that both adds some pop as well as comfort. The slightly lower flex rating (71 RA) compared to the previous version also contributes to enhanced comfort.

A great update to the Pure Drive Tour and worth a shot for players looking for a stable, powerful and spin friendly racquet.
