    Description

The SW in the racquet’s name and the autograph on the side say it all, this is the racquet choice of 23 time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams. The Blade SW104 Autograph Countervail definitely has the specifications to match her powerful game.

This racquet definitely has a unique set of specs. Firstly, at 28 inches in length, it is one full inch longer than standard racquets. This extra length will not only help with extended reach, it also creates more leverage and intern more power. This should be noticeable on groundstrokes and even more apparent on serves. Power is also on offer form the racquet’s 104 square inch head. Well not being oversized per se, it is definitely on the larger end of the spectrum for a midplus racquet. This large head creates an ample sized and extremely responsive sweetspot. The tight 18x19 string pattern acts to rein in some of the power by providing great directional control especially when returning shots with some force behind them. With a swingweight of 341 (strung) this racquet definitely takes some strength and technique to get it moving through the hitting zone. However, those players that can produce lots of racquet head speed will be rewarded with plenty of pop and produce shots with a good amount of weight behind them.

Wilson has also included Countervail into the makeup of this racquet. Countervail is a revolutionary shock dampening material that is currently being used in everything from high performance bikes to surfboards. While it is amazing at dampening shock and intern at protecting the body from the rigors of training and competition, the best thing about Countervail, is that it does not change the feel of the racquet. This was something that was extremely important to ATP world number 5 player Milos Raonic who has been using the technology in his racquets since the beginning of the 2016 season. “I made the switch just three days before the Australian Open, which was a risk, but it has paid off. I’ve had the best season of my career, and as I train, practice and play nearly every day, I’ve found that my energy, shot placement and late match power have gotten much better. The best part though, is that my Blade feels the same in my hands. I honestly can’t tell Countervail is in there, but I can feel it working.”

With the Blade SW 104 Autograph Countervail Wilson has created a racquet that will definitely appeal to fast swing aggressive players that are looking for an extended length racquet with a large sweetspot. Like its namesake, this racquet might just gain “legendary status.”

As a result, athletes will have more control over his/her shots and recover from training and matches faster.

In this revolutionary new layout, Wilson braids Basalt with carbon graphite fiber throghout the entire frame. This is the first time Basalt has been braided. Since Basalt is so elastic, it allows the racquet's hoop to flex in ways that improve feel, dwell time, and control.
